Human body has about 360 joints which, together with muscles and ligaments, allow us to move and lead daily lives. According to the WHO, every 5th inhabitant of the planet suffers from joint pain, and joint diseases are found in 50% of people from 40 to 70 years and in 90% of people over 70 years. But joint pain can also occur in young people.

Causes of joint pain:

  • Arthritis
  • Injuries
  • Tendinitis (tendon and ligament damage)
  • Bursitis (lesions of the periarticular bags)

The most common cause of joint pain in the elderly is osteoarthritis, a disease associated with the gradual destruction of articular cartilage. We can not restore cartilage, but we can stop this process if you see a doctor in time. Among the young population, the most common causes of joint pain are injuries, infectious arthritis or arthritis associated with autoimmune diseases.
If joint pain occurs suddenly, often after an injury, then you should visit a traumatologist. If there is pain in the joints bothers you for a long time, then you should visit a rheumatologist to find the reasons.
