Preparation for ultrasound examination
Examination of the abdominal cavity is performed on an empty stomach, preferably in the morning. 1-2 days before the study, gas-forming products are excluded from thиe diet - legumes, raw vegetables and fruits, black bread and pastries, milk, sweets and carbonated beverages. Prior to the study, it is recommended to take Espumizan - 2 capsules 3 times a day or other enterosorbents. The last meal should be no later than 6-8 hours before the study. It is not recommended to smoke or chew gum for 1-2 hours before the study. If the patient has diabetes (before ultrasound of the kidneys, liver) a light breakfast (warm tea, dried white bread) is permissible. If the patient is taking medication regularly, it is not necessary to cancel them due to ultrasound, but it is necessary to inform the doctor about their reception. It is not recommended to take antispasmodics before the study.
Ultrasound Doppler examination of the heart, vessels of the head, neck and extremities does not require preparation. To examine the bladder and prostate through the anterior abdominal wall, the bladder must be sufficiently filled. Gynecological examination is recommended outside of menstruation. Examination of the mammary glands is performed at any stage of the menstrual cycle and does not require prior preparation. However, in the presence of pain in the mammary glands to conduct the examination is more comfortable from the 5th to the 12th day of the menstrual cycle. Ultrasound examination of the breasts in men, genitals, prostate through the rectum, thyroid, thymus, lymph nodes, salivary glands, lungs, soft tissues, lungs and joints does not require prior preparation.
