Sinusitis
Sinusitis is an inflammation of the mucous membrane that lines the paranasal sinuses and the nose. It is a complication of rhinitis, therefore the disease is also called rhinosinusitis.
Depending on the form of the course it is distinguished acute, recurrent and chronic sinusitis, depending on the processes in the sinuses - exudative and productive.
Symptoms of sinusitis
- profuse nasal discharge;
- constantly stuffy nose, which makes it difficult to breathe;
- deterioration or complete loss of the sense of smell;
- headache localised to the nose and forehead;
- rapid fatigability;
- general feeling of being unwell;
- sleeping difficulty.
Treatment of sinusitis
As there are many varieties of sinusitis, it is important to clearly identify which one is troubling the patient. To do this, you should visit an otolaryngologist, who will carry out an examination and diagnostics. Having collected an anamnesis of the disease, he will prescribe treatment. This may include antibacterial therapy, nasal rinsing procedures or the use of anti-allergic drugs.
